A new pizza restaurant is in the works for the southern reaches of Loudoun County — and it will be occupying the same spot where another pizza place recently closed.
The Burn has learned that Masala Pizza & Bitezz is coming to the Whitman Farm retail area near the intersection of Gum Spring Road and Braddock Road.
That’s the same center with the Kokee Tea, Dunkin’ Donuts and the new Sheetz gas station/convenience store.
Masala is taking over Unit 120 that was previously the home to Papa Deeno’s Pizza, which shut down earlier this fall.
We haven’t seen a menu yet for Masala, but on social media the restaurant describes itself as a “modern Indian pizzeria” offering pizzas and snacks, including vegan, gluten-free, and halal options.
Some of the treats mentioned online include onion samosas, pani puri, and chicken tikka masala pizza.
Masala is the latest entry in the “Indian pizza” space. Other local restaurants that specialize in both traditional American-style pizzas as well as pizzas made with Indian flavors and ingredients include Pizza Twist/Chicago’s Pizza with a Twist and Pizza 360.
