Caribbean-style restaurant in the works for Loudoun

Well, that didn’t take long. It was just a few weeks ago that we reported the closure of the Wicket Door Pub in Ashburn. And now we have an inkling of what new restaurant is planning to take its place.

Paperwork has been filed with Loudoun County for a new restaurant at 44921 George Washington Boulevard, Unit. 100.

That’s the same spot Wicket Door was in at the University Commerce Center on the north side of Route 7.

The restaurant will be called Xaymaca Fusion Kitchen and it appears that it will specialize in Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine.

Xaymaca Fusion Kitchen launched several years ago and — at least some of that time — worked out of the Chefscape commerical kitchen facility in Leesburg.

Now, it appears they are going the brick-and-mortar route with a storefront of their own.

We found a Xaymaca menu from earlier this year and it has dishes such as Beef Oxtail, Jerk Chicken, and Jamaican ground beef patties. No word yet if the menu at the new restaurant will be the same or similar.

Besides the cuisine, we also understand that Xaymaca is likely to have a full bar with a curated cocktail menu as well.

It sounds like they aren’t planning on doing any major renovations to the Wicket Door space, so barring any unforseen issues, Xaymaca Fusion Kitchen should open relatively quickly.
