A new fast casual restaurant focused on farm fresh foods celebrated its opening day today in Chantilly. Long lines formed outside Farmside Kitchen over the lunch hour.
The restaurant is located in the The Field at Commonwealth retail center located off State Road 28. That’s the same center with the Wegmans grocery store, the Lazy Dog Restaurant, and the Mellow Mushroom.
Farmside Kitchen was offering free bowls to guests who arrived early and the dining room was packed while a full team of employees bustled about.
“Farmside Kitchen’s purpose is to nourish a happier and healthier way of living through warm, inviting experiences and wholesome, crave-able Farmbowls made with nutrient-dense ingredients,” read a press release about opening day.
Examples from the restaurant’s menu include The Rancher, which is a bowl with grilled chicken, black beans, roasted corn, avocado, and more; or The G.O.A.T. which has roasted sweet potatoes, gala apples, toasted almonds, goat cheese, and other ingredients. The Burn first reported on the new Farmside Kitchen back in September. In it’s previous incarnation, the restaurant in that spot was called Farmtruck Pizza & Greens, but the now the name and menu have been reimagined.
We spoke with one of the founders of the brand — which has one location in Durham, North Carolina and another in the works in Cary, North Carolina.
They say their intention is to add more stores in Northern Virginia — but no new locations have been chosen yet.
