The long wait for the new Painted Tree Boutiques store in Sterling could be drawing to an end. The sign has gone up over the entrance and the management has provided an update on opening.
The store is coming to a large 35,000 s.f. space in the Sugarland Crossing shopping center off Route 7. The Burn first broke the news about it back in May 2023.
According to a post on social media, Painted Tree is hoping that the giant “makers” store will open sometime this month — January 2025 — if everything goes smoothly.
That being said — when The Burn passed by today, the space was still an active construction zone. That work will have to be finished and at least some of the many craftspeople whose wares will fill the store will need to move their products in before it can open.
If you aren’t familiar with the concept, Painted Tree operates similarly to an antiques mall where multiple vendors sell their antiques under one roof. Only instead of antiques, Painted Tree specializes in items made by local artisans and craftspeople.
Home decor, jewelry, clothing, kitchen items, glassware — the list goes on and on. Each vendor sets up their own space and fills it with their products, but the Painted Tree team handles all the store operations freeing up the artists from this responsibility.
As readers of The Burn know, there is already another Painted Tree Boutiques location in Loudoun County. One opened in the South Riding area back in June 2024.
The two Loudoun stores are the only locations open or announced so far for Northern Virginia.
