Ebisu Sushi and Thai opens in downtown Leesburg

A new sushi and Thai food restaurant has opened in one of downtown Leesburg’s most prominent spots — the former Delirium Cafe building at the corner of Loudoun Street and South King Street.

It’s called Ebisu Sushi and Thai. They started a soft opening Thursday evening and The Burn was there for a sneak preview.

The space — which includes a bar area and two small dining room areas — has some new decor, but is still reminiscent of the former Delirium space.

We also got a kick out of seeing the Delirium pink elephant taps are still here. The Ebisu team decided to keep them since the elephant is a symbol of Thailand and Thai culture.

A chef works the sushi counter where rolls such as the Pacific Bloom are made fresh while other dishes come steaming hot from the kitchen. We sampled the Curry Puffs and the Khao Soi Gai — a noodle soup with chicken in it.

The Burn first broke the news of Ebisu coming to Leesburg back in July and we shared a first look at the menu in November.

The soft opening is expected to continue through this weekend with a grand opening coming in the next week or so.
