A Loudoun County-based team of do-gooders are hard at work this weekend getting ready for Monday’s presidential Inauguration Day.
Round Hill-resident Ronie Nosner is leading the charge to help provide free meals to more than than a thousand police officers working around DC on the big day. And this isn’t the first time she’s done it.
Back in 2017 — their first effort — she and her daughters helped feed 70 officers working the inauguration that year.
“It was just my family — my daughters and I — packaging meals in our kitchen,” Nosner told The Burn. “We had one goal in mind — to ensure these first responders had at least one solid meal on this busy day.”

In 2021, Nosner and her team ramped up their efforts and fed 500 police officers on Inauguration Day. And now, a whopping 1,600 is the goal for this year.
Nosner is driven to do this charitable act because she knows first hand how hard cops work. Her husband has been an officer with DC’s Metropolitan Police Department for nearly 23 years.
“These dedicated men and women in blue will be working 16+ hour shifts, and the meals we provide may be the only nourishment they receive that day,” she said. “Their commitment to protecting our city during such a significant event deserves our support and recognition.”

Nosner has spent months partnering with local businesses (see list below) and raising funds to help cover the expenses of the lunch giveaway.
One local business that has jumped in to help this year is the Purcellville Eats! restaurant in Pville.
Owners Kevin and Jennifer Bednarz — who also own The Ashburn Pub and The Purcellville Pub — are preparing all the boxed lunches with the Purcellville Eat! team. And they are covering 20 percent of the food and labor costs themselves as a donation.

The lunch includes an Italian sub sandwich, chips, a cookie, and a bottle of water.
“We were happy to be able to get involved,” Kevin Bednarz told The Burn. “We know the long hours law enforcement will be working out there in the cold that day.”

The MPD will pick up the lunches in Purcellville early Monday morning and transport them to DC.
Nosner and her family will travel in as well and personally hand out the boxes, giving them an opportunity to personally thank many of the officers working this major city event.
