Longtime staple Saigon Cafe apparently closes in Sterling

A longtime staple of the Sterling restaurant scene has apparently closed – and it doesn’t look like it was a happy decision.

We’re not certain when it happened, but Saigon Cafe in the Parc City Center (formerly the Regal Plaza) is currently closed.

A sign on the window reads: “Do Not Enter. This is a No Trespass Zone. Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Lease Default.” It’s been posted by the property management company.

There’s no information on the restaurant’s social media pages and the phone number has been disconnected.

It appears Saigon Cafe launched 18 years ago — almost to the day. Opening day was reportedly February 2, 2007.

Inside, it looked like everything was still in place — furniture and fixtures, etc. — so perhaps the restaurant will be able to return if the issues that led to its closure are resolved. Or perhaps its gone for good.

Saigon Cafe is just a couple of doors down from the spot that used to be Cheng’s Oriental Restaurant. That restaurant closed in 2017 and the space has been vacant ever since.
