Loudoun County pooch to appear on TV’s annual Puppy Bowl

The annual Animal Planet Puppy Bowl is back again this year — and there is a pup from Loudoun County on one of the teams.

The Puppy Bowl is a yearly event on television timed to the Super Bowl that mimics the football game only featuring puppies as players.

Two of the dogs in this year’s event came from Operation Paws for Homes, a non-profit dog and cat rescue organization based in the Richmond, Virginia area, including sweet Maya.

Maya “is a Doberman Pinscher/American Staffordshire Terrier who is also energetic, friendly and fun,” a press release about the event reads. “Maya came from OPH’s rescue partner in rural West Virginia. She was one of eight puppies dropped off at the shelter along with their mother. The mother was severely underweight and the puppies were only a few weeks old. The family was transported to OPH and all have also found forever homes.”

And Maya has already found a forever home and it just happens to be with a family in Ashburn’s Brambleton neighborhood.

The family requested to remain anonymous, but you can be sure they’ll be sitting in front of the TV with Maya, watching her on the big day. She will be playing for Team Fluff in the Puppy Bowl.

The Puppy Bowl is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, at 2 p.m. on the Animal Planet channel.
