Loudoun’s first Taco Bamba restaurant announces opening date

The much-awaited first Taco Bamba taqueria restaurant in Loudoun County officially has an opening date. The big day is Friday, February 28.

That’s per an announcement today from the growing Northern Virginia-based brand. This will be the 16th Taco Bamba location. Most are here in the DMV, but there are also locations in North Carolina and Tennessee.

The Burn first broke the news that Taco Bamba was coming to Sterling’s Cascades Marketplace shopping center back in late 2023.

It’s taken over a roughly 3,000 s.f. space in the center at Palisades Parkway and Cascades Parkway that years ago was occupied by a Baja Fresh Mexican Grill restaurant.

While many of the menu items at each Taco Bamba are the same, each individual restaurant also has several dishes that are unique to that location alone.

“At Taco Bamba, we tailor every menu to reflect the spirit of its neighborhood, and Loudoun County is no exception,” said Taco Bamba founder Chef Victor Albisu.

Per the announcement, in Sterling, this will include a brisket shawarma taco called the Habibi G; a Pork Pingao taco filled with chipotle-guava barbeque carnitas; and the Doña Rosi, a tribute to Albisu’s mother and their Peruvian heritage, which features Peruvian chicken.

You can see the full Sterling Taco Bamba menu here.

The restaurant will have seating for 71 guests inside and 46 more outside on a seasonal patio. It will operate like a fast-casual restaurant where customers eating in the dining room will pick up their food from a counter.

Meanwhile, anyone sitting at the bar — which features a lineup of mezcal and tequila cocktails – can get regular full service there.

The doors will open at 9 a.m. on February 28, and the first 100 people in line will receive a Taco Bamba coffee tumbler as well as a golden ticket making them eligible for additional prizes.
