The Matchbox restaurant chain is well known across the greater DC area. They have five locations in Virginia — including at One Loudoun — plus three in Maryland, two in DC, and one down in Florida.
Now, one of those locations is experimenting with a new menu. It’s called the “Prime Menu” and its currently only available at the Matchbox restaurant in McLean on Chain Bridge Road.
Steaks are one of the main features on the new Prime Menu. They also have added dishes such as a Lobster Cobb Salad, Lobster & Shrimp Fettuccine, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, Halibut, Truffle & Wild Mushroom Pizza, Faroe Island Salmon, and Branzino.
“The McLean community is very loyal to their local restaurants, and we have listened to our regular guests,” said Alex Berentzen, Chief Operating Officer of Thompson Restaurants. “We are keeping all the Matchbox favorites, the pizza and the core menu items, but we wanted to provide some more specialty menu items by request and that is why we launched Matchbox Prime here in McLean.”
The new menu at just one location immediately begets the question — is this a trial run and will the Prime Menu expand to other Matchbox locations. The answer — “potentially” — but no guarantees. Right now, it’s just in McLean.
