Loudoun’s latest Wawa should open this summer

Progress on a new Wawa gas station and convenience store in southern Loudoun County is moving quickly – and now we have an inkling of when it will open.

We’re talking about the Wawa coming to the Loudoun Crossroads project off Route 50 near Pleasant Valley Road.

That’s the same spot with the Silver Diner restaurant and the Popeyes fried chicken restaurant.

The main building for the Wawa is up. The canopy over the fueling stations has been installed, and there’s a Wawa monument sign at the entrance. Hiring for the store has also started.

We spoke to a construction manager working at the site and – while there is no official opening date – he says he believes they are aiming for August. Time will tell if that holds true.

This will be the third Wawa location in Loudoun County after one in far eastern Sterling on Oakgrove Road and another at the intersection of Russell Branch Parkway and Gloucester Parkway.

At one time years ago, there was paperwork moving through the county system for yet another Wawa location – also off Route 50 – closer to the intersection with Loudoun County Parkway. No word if that location is still a possibility or not.
