A new restaurant concept from a well-known DC-area restaurateur is headed to Loudoun County. It will be called Juleps Kentucky Tavern and will focus on southern comfort cuisine and, of course, bourbon.
Juleps Kentucky Tavern is coming to Loudoun Station in Ashburn. It will be taking the space vacated by the Blackfinn Ameripub when that restaurant closed a year ago.
Juleps is the brainchild of Reese Gardner, who has owned and operated many restaurants in the DC market, including the Copperwood Tavern which once had a popular location at One Loudoun in Ashburn.
Gardner is also the owner of the Greenheart Juice Shop brand which has six locations in the region so far – and another one also in the works for Loudoun Station.
Gardner tells The Burn that Juleps will be a “warm Southern tavern celebrating the heritage of Kentucky bourbon and timeless hospitality.”

While the menu is still being created, diners can expect a variety of signature juleps, a wide selection of bourbons, and – as seen in the image above – a signature Jalapeño Honey Fried Chicken. (You all know that The Burn is Northern Virginia’s leading source of fried chicken news.)
There will also be a Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop and a traditional Hot Brown Sandwich, a Kentucky favorite that usually includes turkey, bacon, and Mornay sauce and is served open face.
Gardner also says the new restaurant will be offering a weekend brunch menu that will be similar to the popular brunch at Copperwood Tavern.
It’s too soon to predict an opening date for the restaurant. The deal just closed on Monday, so stay tuned as new details about Juleps Kentucky Tavern start to roll out.
Loudoun Station is the center near the Ashburn Metro station developed and operated by the Comstock Companies. Juleps is the latest is a string of new tenants announced for the center.
Others include the upcoming Curry Pizza House, a Dogtopia, a Hawaii Fluid Art studio, and a Starbucks coffee shop.
