It looks like Walmart may be ready to throw down the glove and challenge a neighboring Sunoco gas station to a duel.
According to documents filed with Loudoun County, Walmart is exploring adding a Walmart Fuel gas station to its store at Leesburg’s Compass Creek center.
The proposed spot – near the north driveway entrance to Walmart – would be immediately next door to an existing Sunoco gas station and convenience store.
The plans filed appear to show 14 fuel pumps under a canopy and a small convenience store as well.
The proposal is just preliminary – a pre-meeting has been requested where the Walmart folks can talk to local officials about the feasibility of the project.
But if it comes to fruition, there’s going to be a battle royale for drivers filling up their tanks there.
