Burning Question: Whatever happened to the Pizza Hut in South Riding? – Patrick C.
That’s a darn fine question. Patrick is referring to a story that ran on The Burn back in September 2022 about a proposed drive-thru Pizza Hut to be built on a vacant parcel of land in South Riding.
The precise spot is at a small retail center called Community Corner located on the southeast corner of Tall Cedars Parkway and Gum Spring Road.
It was supposed to be just 1,900 s.f. and feature a delivery and carry-out only model. In other words, no dining room.
We’ve been keeping our eye on it, but never saw any movement, so we reached out to a representative for the landlord.
Believe it or not, we’re told that the a Pizza Hut is currently still planned for the site. However, there is no timeline as to when it will be built.
This may seem crazy to folks just jonesing for a pie from the Hut, but we’ve seen this happen many times over the years. A new restaurant or other business is proposed – and then it sits idle for months or years.
There are lots of business factors that play into when a company, or a franchisee, or a land owner decides to start construction on a new project. Often, they will eventually move forward. Sometimes they don’t.
But regardless – the official word right now is that a Pizza Hut is still planned for that spot. No other info available.
