Shocking news on the local retail scene – the national At Home retail chain has announced more than two dozen stores that it plans to close – and the Leesburg store in on the list.
The news broke Monday afternoon. Apparently, the company has filed for bankruptcy and – as part of that filing – it will close 26 underperforming stores.
The Leesburg store – which is located at the Compass Creek development near the Leesburg airport – just opened in 2021 in a large building next door to the city’s Walmart store.
One other store in Northern Virginia is also on the closure list – that one is on Sudley Road in Manassas.
All 26 stores are expected to close permanently by the end of September.
