Virginia’s first Buc-ee’s store is open for business

The first Buc-ee’s store in the state of Virginia officially opened its doors this morning – Monday, June 30. There was a long line of people waiting to be among the first to visit.

The new store is located in Rockingham County, off Interstate 81 at Exit 240. That’s just a little south of Harrisonburg.

Over the weekend, the store invited first responders in Rockingham County to come in for a sneak peek of the store – as seen in the photos here.

Buc-ee’s is a Texas-based chain of roadside gas stations and convenience stores that serve the traveling public – but to call it a mere “gas station” or “c-store” is an understatement by several magnitudes.

A typical Buc-ee’s has 120 gas pumps that stretches over an area the size of a football field. The new Virginia store covers roughly 74,000 s.f. and offers clothing, home decor, gifts, plus a wide array of both hot and cold foods.

The brand is especially well known for its immaculate bathrooms and its large selection of beef jerky and many other types of jerky.

A second Buc-ee’s location in Virginia is in the works at a spot off Interstate 64 near Richmond and there is talk of another location off I-95 near Stafford.
