While we haven’t seen an official date from the company, Whole Foods Market employees in Reston are telling customers that the move to its new location will likely happen in August.
It’s been 2 1/2 years since The Burn first broke the news that Whole Foods was possibly decamping from its current spot in the Plaza America center and moving a few blocks north to the Spectrum at the Reston Town Center.
And it’s been more than two years since that news was officially confirmed. Now, opening day is almost here.
Whole Foods has taken a roughly 43,000 s.f. space that used to be a Best Buy store.

A peek in the windows shows everything is all set up – long aisles with shelves, checkout counters, shopping carts. It just looks like they are waiting for the actual food and merchandise to start arriving.
We’ll keep an eye out for an announcement of the official dates when the Plaza America store will close and when the new store will open – but after years of anticipation, we’re down to just a few weeks to go.
