Something new coming to former Mimi’s Cafe spot in Sterling

We’ve got a bit of a mystery on our hands. Work is underway at the old Mimi’s Cafe building on the ring road around the Dulles Town Center mall. But what exactly is going on there is still unclear.

Here’s what we know – The Burn started getting reports from passersby that construction crews were at the former Mimi’s building.

Mimi’s – with it’s unusual facade reminiscent of a English cottage – closed back in 2021. The building has been vacant ever since.

Now, we’ve learned that a new establishment is going in there. It’s coming from the same folks that operate 5 Tara Indian Cuisine at the Village at Leesburg.

We’re told that it may be both a restaurant and also a private event space. We were also told it might be called Haveli, but that is not confirmed.

Online sources say “haveli” mean a large private home, or a private space and comes from the Indian subcontinent.

We’ve been in contact with the owner and are waiting on more details on the plans.

This is the second vacant restaurant building at the Dulles Town Center to find new life recently. Earlier this week, we reported that a new tenant has been found for the long vacant PF Chang’s space.
