First look inside Reston’s huge new Whole Foods store

Today – Wednesday, August 6 – is opening day at the new Whole Foods store in Reston – more than two years after The Burn was the first media outlet to break the news.

Hundreds of people turned out to be among the first shoppers at the store and we were there getting a first look inside for readers.

Whole Foods has completed its move from a much smaller space in the near Plaza America shopping center into a former Best Buy space at The Spectrum at the Reston Town Center.

The new store covers more than 46,000 s.f. – twice the size of the previous store which opened back in 1996.

Among the features of the new store – a focus on regionally produced items with more than 400 local products in stock, a cheese counter staffed by trained cheesemongers, a full-service seafood counter, and a full-service meat counter.

There is also a prepared foods section with hot bar, a bakery, and a coffee shop.
