The Donato’s Pizza restaurant chain has announced that it is going to be opening new stores in Northern Virginia.
The Ohio-based brand previously operated at least two locations in Northern Virginia – one in Fairfax and one in Vienna, but they closed several years ago.
Now, a new franchisee is apparently bringing the brand back to the area with restaurants planned for the Ashburn, Herndon, and Reston areas.
According to the announcement, they hope to open 20 or more stores in Virginia and Maryland in the next 2-3 years.
No specific addresses have been announced yet for the planned new stores, but they are hoping to begin opening them as soon as the first quarter of 2026.
Donato’s is known for its Edge to Edge pizzas, which apparently feature ingredients all the way to the edge of the pie.
The brand’s pizzas have been available in the area for sometime now, as part of a deal to serve them at Red Robin restaurants across the area. But the new stores will be standalone Donato’s locations.
Donato’s was founded in Columbus, Ohio in 1963 and today has more than 450 stores across 28 states.
