Some surprising news this weekend as word begins to spread that the Greenheart Juice Shop chain is reportedly closing all five of its locations and a new brand will be taking them over.
The company has stores in Leesburg, Aldie, Vienna, Arlington, plus one at the Western Market in DC.
The situation is a bit confusing. Staff members at at least two locations – Vienna and Leesburg – were told that tomorrow – Sunday, August 23 – will be the last day in business. They didn’t seem to know anything about a new operator coming in.
But we reached the current owner of the Greenheart brand and he says that all five stores will be operated by a new company, which he declined to name.
He did say the new operator has an existing brand and the Greenheart locations will transition to this brand as well.
The sudden demise of the Greenheart is a little surprising considering that just weeks ago, the company announced plans to transition the juice shops into a new cafe model named Greenheart Café.
The tweaked concept was going to expand the menu and offer coffee drinks, baked goods, sourdough sandwiches, as well as grab-and-go salads, wraps, and more.
Instead, another operator in the same – or similar space – will come in and take all five locations to add to their lineup of locations.
We’re working on getting more information and will report back when we have additional details about the future of the Greenheart stores. Stay tuned!
