A new restaurant called Mandala Kitchen & Bar in the works for Ashburn. It will be coming to the Ashburn Square retail center on Ashburn Road.
Not coincidentally, it will be going in right next door to Kirana Pasal, a small Neplese market. The owners of the market are expanding and opening the neighboring restaurant as well.
We are told that Mandala will likely be full service – meaning service at tables with waitstaff.
Back in April, when we first reported on plans for the restaurant, it was going to be called Tempo Shack. That’s because Tempo Shack is a Nepalese street food kiosk inside Kirana Pasal and it was going to move and become a full-fledged restaurant.
Instead, the owners are going with Mandala Kitchen & Bar, but the Tempo Shack kiosk will move over from the market into the new restaurant space. It will be home to both the Mandala full service concept and the Tempo Shack carry out concept.
On the Nepalese food scene, Ashburn is already home to the much-acclaimed Himalayan Wild Yak restaurant at the Brambleton Town Center. And the Ashburn Village Shopping Center has the Roadhouse Momo & Grill Nepalese restaurant.
No details on the menu yet at Mandala Kitchen & Bar – or a precise opening date. We’re told they hope to be ready to welcome guests in the next few months.
