Well known bank in Loudoun County is changing names

Bank news isn’t usually in our wheelhouse here at The Burn, but we do find it interesting when a well known name undergoes a rebranding. That’s what’s happening with the Bank of Charles Town.

The Bank of Charles Town was founded in Charles Town, West Virginia (of course) way back in 1871. Now, some 154 years later, it will soon have a new name.

Starting on November 3, the Bank of Charles Town will become Potomac Bank. That’s to better reflect its geographic base as the brand has expanded well beyond the borders of its original home.

“The name Potomac Bank was chosen to symbolize the powerful connection shared among the diverse communities the bank serves, all united by the namesake Potomac River, which has shaped the region’s geography, history, and prosperity,” the official announcement reads.

According to the Bank of Charles Town website, there are currently nearly a dozen branches of the bank. That includes four locations here in Northern Virginia in Leesburg, Purcellville, and Middleburg, plus a lending office in Ashburn.
