(Updated) A new gymnastics school named for famed gymnast Dominique Dawes is getting close to opening day in Ashburn.
The Dominique Dawes Academy has announced that it is planning on opening its doors in October. The exact date hasn’t been revealed.
The academy has taken a large 19,500 s.f. space in the Ashbrook Commons shopping center. That spot used to be home to the Off Broadway Shoes store.
The new sign was recently installed on the facade of the building.

The school will offer classes in both gymnastics as well as ninja obstacle course skills – another popular sport among young people.
Dominique Dawes competed in three Olympics for the United States and is a gold medalist. The Ashburn location of the Dominique Dawes Academy will be one of five schools so far for the brand.
Four of them are in Maryland. Ashburn will be the first in Virginia.
