Have you ever seen the big fuel tanks that are buried underground at gas stations – the ones you pump from every time you fill up your car or truck? No? While, now you have.
The Burn reader Arthur Drenth snapped these photos as he passed by the construction site for the new Sheetz gas station and convenience store in Ashburn.
The project is going up at the corner of Belmont Ridge Road and Portsmouth Boulevard near the Belmont Greene neighborhood.
The Burn first reported on the plans years ago – 2021 to be exact, but work only got started this summer.

Now, the huge fuel tanks that will be buried under the ground are on site, waiting to be installed. They will be buried and then the parking lot and fuel pumps will go in over them.
Still no official word on when the powers-that-be hope to open this new Sheetz location, so stay tuned.
