Well, this is exciting. Another new bagel shop is in the works for Ashburn – this time in the Ashburn Village neighborhood.
The Burn has learned that Torus Bagels is planning to set up shop in the Ashburn Village Shopping Center off Gloucester Parkway.
It will be taking the space that is currently the Jimmy John’s sandwich shop. The Jimmy John’s is still open and we checked with employees there. They said they didn’t have any information about it.
We don’t have any details yet on Torus Bagels, but if you’re wondering about name – we can answer that. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, a torus is “a surface or solid formed by rotating a closed curve, especially a circle, around a line that lies in the same plane but does not intersect it (e.g., like a ring-shaped doughnut).”
A ring-shaped doughnut. Or a bagel. Said another way – the geometric name for a bagel shape is a torus.
We said “another new bagel” shop because – as regular readers know – a new Bkd Bagels shop just opened last month in Brambleton on Ashburn’s south side.
We’ll keep you posted as the plans for Torus Bagels coalesce – and report back when we have more info.
