Ok, this is a little complicated so stay with us. An unusual sweetshop called the Chimney Cake Bakery is is on the move in Sterling.
Apparently it has been operating since April inside a smoke shop on Enterprise Boulevard, but the bakery has closed that spot to prepare for the move.
It’s next going into a spot somewhere in the Dulles Town Center shopping mall.
The Chimney Cake Bakery specializes in Hungarian dish called kürtőskalács, which means “chimney cake.”
A chimney cake is a traditional Hungarian pastry made from a sweet dough that is wrapped around a spit and baked.

It has a crispy, caramelized outer layer and soft, fluffy interior, and is often coated in toppings like cinnamon, sugar, nuts, or coconut. It can then be filled with ice cream or other fillings.
No word on when the Chimney Cake Bakery will open at the DTC, but we suddenly feel the urge to explore Hungarian culture – starting with their desserts.
