Loudoun’s first Pitango Gelato shop in the works

One Loudoun County shopping center is about to get a whole lot sweeter with the planned opening of a new gelato shop.

According to the landlord, Pitango Gelato has signed a lease for a 1,500 s.f. space in the South Riding Market Square center.

That’s the center with a Giant grocery store and a Home Depot just south of Route 50 off Loudoun County Parkway.

The gelato shop is reportedly taking the space that is currently the home to the GameStop store.

Pitango Gelato is an upscale gelato brand here in the Washington DC market. According to the company’s website, they have eight locations – including one over at the Reston Town Center.

“Pitango Gelato makes authentic Italian gelato with organic milk from grass-fed cows and sorbet from fresh fruit,” the brand’s website reads. “Our made-from-scratch products are free from artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. And we churn each flavor on site to ensure peak freshness.”

The deal is brand new, so no word yet on when Pitango will open in South Riding – but we are betting they’ll have it ready by the time the weather starts warming up next spring.
