Northern Virginia’s worst kept secret is now official. Today, the IKEA furniture store company announced plans to open a new store in Chantilly, just off State Road 28.
As The Burn has been reporting, IKEA is taking over the Dulles Expo Center space located at 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center.
The new store will feature a roughly 110,000 s.f. showroom filled with furniture, accessories, and home decor. There will be approximately 7,700 items on display with 4,400 of them available for immediate purchase and takeaway.
Larger items, such as sofas and beds, can be ordered for home delivery or in-store pickup.

And don’t worry – there will also be one of the much-loved IKEA restaurants onsite as well.
“IKEA Chantilly will also feature the Swedish food experience, offering a variety of hot and cold IKEA favorites like meatballs, plant balls, hot dogs, veggie dogs, plant dogs, cinnamon buns, and more—available to enjoy in-store or take home for later,” the announcement reads.
The only other large IKEA store in Northern Virginia is in Woodbridge, so the Chantilly location will bring IKEA shopping much closer to residents in Loudoun County, western Fairfax County, and the environs.
An official opening date hasn’t been set yet, but the IKEA teams says they are hoping to be ready to go sometime this coming spring.
