American Kolache opens its doors in Loudoun County

Today – Sunday, November 2 – was the big day. The eagerly awaited new American Kolache bakery opened for business in Loudoun County.

As The Burn has been reporting, American Kolache has set up shop in the Cameron Chase Village Center retail plaza in Ashburn.

That’s the small shopping center next door to the Ashburn Ice House.

The owners told us that they had a steady stream of guests this morning, including a fair number who fell in love with kolaches in Texas – a state where the Eastern European treat is especially popular.

The store is reminiscent of a Dunkin’ doughnuts shop – with a counter and shelves filled with both sweet and savory kolaches behind it.

Some of the flavors of the sweet dough pockets we tried include Pulled Pork, Meatball, Macaroni, Cheese & Bacon, and Pecan Pie.

One fun element – the light fixture hanging overhead is made up of whisks – symbolic of all the baking going on back in the kitchen.

The American Kolache brand – which is based in the St. Louis area – is now expanding around the country and opening new markets to kolaches.

According to the company’s website, the Ashburn store will be the first east coast location for the brand.

The shop is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
