New expo and event center planned for Dulles Town Center mall

The Dulles Town Center shopping mall has announced that it will open a new expo and event center at the property next year. It will fittingly be called the DTC Expo & Event Center.

Regular readers know that the popular Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly is closing at the end of the year in order to make way for a new IKEA store.

That closure is leaving lots of toy shows and craft shows and trade shows and gun shows without a permanent home. The folks at the DTC aim to fix that.

The former Lord & Taylor department store space at the mall will receive a major makeover and refurbishment to turn it into a 120,000 s.f. event hall.

Trade shows, exhibitions, conventions, concerts, corporate functions, and community gatherings are just some of the types of events the mall’s owner envisions for the new center.

“We’re excited to introduce this next-generation event space at Dulles Town Center,” said Srini Chavali, landlord of the Dulles Town Center, in a press release announcing the plans. “The DTC Expo will strengthen our role as a true community hub—one that unites business, culture, entertainment, and connection across Loudoun County and beyond. More importantly, it will stimulate local economic growth, benefiting hotels, restaurants, and retail throughout the area.”

The new expo center is expected to open in the second quarter of 2026.

In the coming months, it will be joined by a host of other new tenants that The Burn has already told you about – including the 810 Entertainment venue with bowling, laser tag, axe throwing and more as well as a Sky Zone trampoline park, a Cloudbound indoor toddler park, and the Libero volleyball training facility.
