Hunter Bohnenblust’s radiant spirit continues to inspire those who knew him — his family, his friends, his teammates, and the Loudoun community. Hunter (pictured above) was a beloved Loudoun Soccer Challenge player who passed away last summer, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and unbridled joy.
Whether he was sharing a celebratory high five, wearing his favorite colorful cleats, or charging down the pitch with infectious energy, Hunter had a remarkable way of lifting up everyone around him.
To honor that spirit, his parents, Jackie Kramer and Eric Bohnenblust, worked with Loudoun Soccer to create the Hunter’s Heroes Fund — a lasting celebration of their son’s love of the game and of life itself. The fund supports initiatives that reflect Hunter’s colorful character and his family’s wish to continue spreading the joy he brought to others.

The Hunter’s Heroes collaboration carries forward his legacy in two significant ways:
- The Hunter’s Heroes Award – Presented each season to a Loudoun Soccer Challenge player who exemplifies Hunter’s selflessness, sportsmanship, and kindness on and off the field.
- Provide New Equipment for Players in Need – Providing gear and other equipment to help ensure that all children have the opportunity to share in the beautiful game Hunter loved so much.
In late October, the effort marked its first milestone in honoring Hunter’s memory when Loudoun Soccer CEO Mark Ryan presented the inaugural Hunter’s Heroes Award to Charlie Bach, nominated by Hunter’s Challenge coach, Hein Schafer, for his teamwork, positivity, and compassion — qualities that embody Hunter’s spirit.

The following day, family, friends, teammates, and coaches gathered at Segra Field for a heartfelt celebration of Hunter’s life — a day filled with color, laughter, and stories that captured the essence of who he was.
It is Hunter’s family’s wish that, through Hunter’s Heroes, others will continue to find inspiration in his example — to play with joy, to care deeply for others, and to live each day with the same vibrant energy that defined his life.
