Reston-area residents have a new option when they get a hankering for something savory. As The Burn first reported last month, the new Empanadas de Mendoza restaurant holds its grand opening this coming weekend.
Located in the North Point Village Center, the carryout restaurant has been conducting a soft opening for the past week, and The Burn stopped in to check it out.
The small space includes a service counter with two touchscreens where customers can place orders. There are also some shelves with Argentinian sweets and a grab-and-go cooler for beverages.
Mendoza offers both fried and baked versions of their empanadas. We tried a fried Traditional Beef empanada, a baked Spicy Beef empanada, and a baked Roasted Chicken & Potato empanada — along with a side of standard French fries.

It took about 8-10 minutes to cook up our order and everything came out piping hot and delicious. (Full disclosure – The Burn is a longtime empanada fan, so we were predisposed to like them.)
Other items on the menu include sandwiches, pizzas, and desserts.
Empanadas de Mendoza will officially open this coming Saturday, December 6 at 11 a.m. The first 100 customers will each get a free empanada and a free churro.
