Cafe Rio restaurant closes only Loudoun location

The Cafe Rio fast-casual Mexican restaurant has closed its doors permanently in Loudoun County. We’re told the final day was this past weekend.

Word has been circulating for some time that the restaurant’s days were numbered, and here at The Burn, we had been waiting to see if it was true. Turns out – it was.

Cafe Rio originally opened in the Ashbrook Marketplace shopping center in Ashburn back in June 2020.

It was part of a Utah-based brand with more than 100 locations in states across the country.

The sign on the door at Ashburn’s defunct location encourages diners to go to the next closest Cafe Rio location over in Herndon at 330 Elden Street.

Elsewhere in Northern Virginia, there are locations in Manassas, Burke, and Falls Church, according to the company’s website.
