The number of Velocity Wings – a longtime Northern Virginia staple for Buffalo wings – continues to dwindle.
The Burn has learned that the Velocity Wings in Lovettsville in western Loudoun County closed at the end of the year. It was located at 20 Town Square.
We’re told that traffic had declined at that spot – and for sports bars in general as more people have big TVs in their homes now.
Earlier this week, The Burn reported that the Velocity Wings in South Riding will be closing – likely later this month. It’s being replaced by a Makers Union gastropub.
And, of course, the longtime Velocity Wings location in Sterling’s Great Falls Plaza closed a couple of months back. It’s being turned into a new Southwestern style restaurant called Austin Grill.
Actually “resurrected” is a better word than “new.”
Austin Grill had several locations in Northern Virginia a few years back, but they all closed. Now the concept has been reimagined and is being brought back.
