A few months back, we had never heard of a chimney cake. Now it seems to be a hot new trend in sweet treats.
The Burn has learned that a new ice cream shop is coming to the Bram Quarter development in Ashburn’s Brambleton community. It’s going to be called Crispý Cones.
According to the Crispý Cones website, the shop will feature trdelniks, a Czech version of the chimney cake.
“Crispý Cones is a sweet treat famous in European countries, including the Czech Republic,” the website reads. “A Crispý Cone is a fresh dough cone, grilled rotisserie-style and covered with cinnamon and sugar or a specialty powder. The cone is filled with your choice of spread, gourmet soft-serve ice cream, fruit, and a variety of delicious toppings.”
The menu at Crispý Cones features curated cones such as the Brownie Royale, the Berry Cheesecake, the Cookie à la Mode, and the Cocoa Berry.
There are also weekly special cones and customizable cones where the customer picks all the ingredients. You can see a sample of the Crispý Cones menu below.

Crispý Cones has locations open or in the works in 15 states, according to the website. None are listed for Virginia yet, so perhaps Ashburn will be the first in the commonwealth.
No word yet when the new shop in Brambleton will open, but this isn’t the first chimney cake business in the area.
Late last year, we reported on a small sweet shop called Chimney Cake Bakery that was relocating from a spot in Sterling to the Dulles Town Center mall.
