The retail scene is changing for the video game store GameStop. It looks like three locations in Loudoun County have closed their doors.
We already knew that the GameStop store at the South Riding Market Square was closing because we reported back in October that a Pitango Gelato shop was moving into that space.
Now, we’ve learned that two more GameStop stores have closed in Loudoun.
Both the store at the Dulles Town Center shopping mall and the store at the Dulles 28 Centre plaza are now listed as closed.
We are also hearing that GameStop stores in Alexandria and Woodbridge have shuttered. It’s part of a growing number of new closures across the country for the retailer.
The brand reportedly closed more than 500 stores in 2024 and now has plans to to wind down an additional 400 stores. The recent Loudoun closures are apparently part of this latest wave.
We did confirm that the GameStop at the Leesburg Plaza on East Market Street in Leesburg is still operating. That makes it the only GameStop left in Loudoun.
