Mod Pizza, a fast-casual build-your-own pizza restaurant, has closed the doors of its Ashburn location for good.
A message hanging on the door reads, in part: “This location is permanently closed. We are incredibly grateful for your patronage and support over the years.”
Mod originally opened in the Belmont Chase retail center off Claiborne Parkway 10 years ago – in January 2016.
The timing would indicate Mod probably had a 10-year lease and has decided not to renew.
The news isn’t a big surprise. The Burn has had Mod Pizza on its “watch list” for close to a year now – ever since the landlord started marketing the space as “available soon.”

There is still one Mod Pizza still open in Loudoun County. It’s out in Purcellville in the Purcellville Gateway shopping center.
There are also Mod locations in Reston and Fairfax.
