Work started in January on the new IKEA store coming to Chantilly and – despite a few unexpected hiccups – it’s progressing nicely. That’s the word from the crew working on the project.
As regular readers know, the former Dulles Expo Center closed late last year and will become the new home to a roughly 110,000 s.f. store.
The exact address is 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center.
The store is expected to showcase more than 7,700 IKEA items, with roughly 4,400 of them available for immediate purchase and takeaway.
There will also be one of IKEA world-famous restaurants onsite serving meatballs, hot dogs, cinnamon buns, and other favorites.

The only other large IKEA store in Northern Virginia is in Woodbridge. The new Chantilly store will bring IKEA shopping closer for residents in Loudoun County, western Fairfax County, and surrounding regions.
No word on an opening date yet. Last we heard, IKEA was hoping to be ready to go sometime this coming spring.
