Construction starts on Petit Sablé in southern Loudoun County

Passers-by headed to the Arby’s restaurant or The Human Bean coffee shop in southern Loudoun County may have seen some construction underway on the parcel of land next door.

That’s apparently going to be the first location in the region, perhaps in the whole country, for a new brand called Petit Sablé.

Readers with good memories will recall that The Burn reported on plans for Petit Sablé near the Gateway Village retail center nearly a year ago.

That’s at the intersection of Route 50 and Gateway Village Place.

Now, the frame of the building is going up – large steel girders giving shape to the walls and roofline.

We are told Petit Sablé, which has locations in Egypt, will be a bakery and dessert shop, with a variety of cookies and baked goods.

The name Petit Sablé comes from a shortbread-like butter cookie made popular in France. We’re told customers at Petit Sablé will have the opportunity to decorate their own cookies.

We are also told the owners bringing the concept to the U.S. will have more information to share as the building starts to take shape and they get closer to opening.

So – in other words – stay tuned.
