Fans of the powdery pillowy pockets known as Bilstad’s Beignets in Ashburn had better brace themselves. The cafe – and the company as a whole – will be quietly shutting down later this year.
That’s per an announcement today from Scott and Jenny Bilstad, the purveyors of said pillowy pockets.
“As our kids have grown, we’ve realized they need more of our time and attention,” the Bilstad’s shared on social media. “While this business has brought us many blessings, our kids have also made sacrifices along the way. With that in mind, we’ve decided that when our lease ends later this year, we will close the cafe.”
The shop got its start in 2020 during the Covid pandemic when the Bilstads started making beignets at home and offering them to their neighbors. Word quickly spread and they opened a brick-and-mortar cafe on Ashburn Road in 2022.
The specific address is 20937 Ashburn Road, Suite 150 where they serve up fresh beignets and coffee each morning on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
While the Bilstad’s lease goes through the end of the year, it’s possible the cafe could close sooner. Details are still being worked out.
But bottom line – if you’re a fan – now is the time to stop in for what could be your final fix.
