Iconic Kilwins sweet shop in the works for Loudoun

Stop the presses! Things just got real! The Burn has learned that a Kilwins ice cream and candy shop is in the works for Loudoun County.

The store will be coming later this year to 17 South King Street in downtown Leesburg. That’s the former site of the Rouge beauty and spa shop which closed recently.

If you aren’t familiar with Kilwins, it’s an iconic ice cream shop brand that got its start in Michigan back in 1947. There are now roughly 150 locations around the country.

Here in Northern Virginia, there are Kilwins shops in Arlington and Alexandria, but this will be the first one in Loudoun.

The future Kilwins ice cream and candy shop in downtown Leesburg.

The Kilwins brand is famous for its Mackinac Island Fudge, as well as its other candies and chocolates, its ice cream, caramel apples, and many other sweet treats.

The Leesburg store is being brought to the community by local resident Nancy Carter. (Hooray for Nancy!)

Carter tells us that she is targeting a late summer or early fall opening. We’ll keep you posted on her progress.
