We’ve been patiently waiting for new information to be released about the upcoming restaurant Athenian in Loudoun County. And now we have found out a little bit more.
As we first reported back in December, Athenian is coming to the Goose Creek Village shopping center in Ashburn.
It will be taking over the restaurant space on the center’s lower level – facing Sycolin Road – that was previously occupied by Massaya Lebanese Restaurant & Bar.
We’ve now learned that Athenian is the first restaurant from a new hospitality group called Global Grains that hopes to eventually have up to six restaurants in the greater DC market.
As you might intuit from the name, Athenian will specialize in Greek and Mediterranean food.
“Experience the essence of Greek hospitality with signature mezze, grilled seafood, premium meats, and carefully curated drinks in a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere,” the Global Grains website reads.
Meanwhile, the landlord at Goose Creek Village describes Athenian has having a menu that changes throughout the day – from shakshouka, Greek yogurt bowls, and artisan coffee in the morning to charcoal-grilled specials in the evening.
The Athenian is expected to have seating for up to 200 guests — including space on an outdoor patio.
No word right now on when the new restaurant will open, but the latest word from the landlord is likely sometime this coming summer.
