Ashburn’s Ace Photo temporarily closed due to overnight fire

An overnight fire at Ace Photo in Ashburn has temporarily closed one of the area’s best known retail stores.

The fire – which was contained to the area around several display cases near the store’s entrance – is believed to be electrical in nature, but that’s still under investigation.

As seen in these photos, cameras and camera equipment – along with some store fixtures – were destroyed in the small blaze.

Fortunately, Mo Jalali, the owner of Ace Photo, told The Burn that most of the camera equipment lost was part of the store’s pre-owned stock – meaning used equipment.

While still a significant loss, the fire didn’t impact much more valuable new equipment nearby.

Originally founded in 1992, Ace Photo – located at 44710 Cape Court off Loudoun County Parkway – is one of the largest camera and camera supply shops on the East Coast and attracts photography enthusiasts from around the region.

Right now, the Ace Photo team is dealing with insurance filings and cleaning up the store. They hope to be ready to reopen by this coming weekend.
