New restaurant, speakeasy bar in the works for Middleburg

A new restaurant and a new speakeasy bar are in the works for Middleburg – and they’re coming from a team with a reputation for interesting and intriguing properties.

Here’s what we know: Kevin and Remington Ash, the developers behind the recently opened Hotel Burg in Leesburg and its two restaurants – The Huntōn and The Diana Lounge — are now setting their sights on Middleburg.

They are taking over the former home of The Fun Shop, a gift shop that carried a wide variety of items during its 66-year history.

The store – which sat at 115 West Washington Street – closed in 2023.

Now, the Ashes are planning a roughly 3,400 s.f. restaurant on the first floor of the property – which is actually a conglomeration of several buildings.

Behind the restaurant, in a 500 s.f. space with an alleyway entrance, the couple will open a cozy speakeasy bar.

Finally, on the second floor, they will open a new location of The Chase, a private social club with an original location at the Hotel Burg. The Middleburg spot will be the second Chase location and a third is reportedly in the works.

The specific details of the new restaurant and speakeasy – names, menus, etc. – are still being developed. However work in the space is already underway.

We are told the Ashes are aiming for a Fall 2026 opening.
