It looks like it’s official. The Duck Donuts doughnut shop in Ashburn has closed its doors permanently less than two years after opening.
The Burn started getting messages earlier this week from doughnut lovers that they had tried to stop by the Duck location at the Broadlands Village Center only to find the doors locked and no one inside.
We went by several times ourself – times when the shop should have been open – and found it closed as well.
There was no sign on the door mentioning a closure, no notice on social media that we could find, and the landlord said they were unaware of the shop closing.
The Burn always treads carefully when reporting on a business that could be closing – we have a lot of readers and our goal is not to harm a business if a closure is just temporary. Perhaps an owner has fallen ill suddenly or an important piece of kitchen equipment has failed.
But now, both the store’s Google listing and its Facebook page have been updated to read “permanently closed.” It’s usually the owners that have control of those listings, so it looks like the decision is official.

The Duck Donuts location in the Broadlands opened in 2024. It was one of two locations in Loudoun County – the other being in South Riding.
The South Riding store is still operating currently.
