Exciting news for an organization that does a lot of good across much of Northern Virginia. The Blue Ridge Hospice Thrift Shop in Leesburg is getting ready for a major move and expansion.
The shop is located in the Leesburg Plaza shopping center on East Market Street, where is has roughly 5,500 s.f. of space.
Now, The Burn has learned that later this year, the thrift shop will be moving from its current location into a larger space in the same shopping center.
Specifically, it’s going into the spot that used to be home to a Party City store. That new space will be about 12,000 s.f. – meaning the total area will more than double.
The team at the store says this will be helpful because space is currently very tight in their current unit and they sometimes have to turn around donations they would really like to accept.
The shop is part of Blue Ridge Care, an organization based in Winchester that serves a large portion of the region with both hospice care and long-term help for people with chronic illnesses.
Proceeds from the sales at the Leesburg thrift shop as well as seven other stores in the state all go to support Blue Ridge Care’s efforts.
No official word when the new, larger thrift shop will open, but we’re told the rough target is late summer or early fall.
