Loudoun movie theater getting new operator, new name

A major Loudoun County movie theater is getting ready to undergo a change, including a new name and a new operator.

The Burn has learned that the CMX Cinemas Village 14 at the Village at Leesburg will soon become the Phoenix Theatres Village 14.

Employees are telling moviegoers that this is the last week the theater will be operating under the CMX name. It will close for a week after this Friday’s last show time.

It will then reopen as the Phoenix Theatres Village 14 on Friday, May 15, according to an announcement on social media. That date was confirmed by a CMX employee as well.

The theater last underwent such a change in 2020 when CMX took over the Cobb movie theater chain. CMX is a subsidiary of Cinemex, a Mexican movie theater operator.

Phoenix Theatres is based in Knoxville, Tennessee. No word on any changes the company may have planned for the theater, but they are actively hiring in Leesburg – including assistant managers, cooks, concessions, and ushers.

A job fair is planned for this Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10.
