Some big changes are afoot in Ashburn, Reston and elsewhere in Northern Virginia that will see the return of the well-known Bed Bath & Beyond retail brand.
Across the country, 98 locations of The Container Store will be retrofitted into a new mashup store that offers products from both the Container Store and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Those locations include the Ashburn Container Store location at One Loudoun and the Reston Container Store at The Spectrum at Reston Town Center.
“This is a reset with purpose,” said Jen Pape, Senior Vice President of Stores at The Container Store, in a press release. “We are actively reshaping our stores to make room for what’s next. By streamlining select categories today, we’re creating the space and flexibility needed to introduce Bed Bath & Beyond products and deliver a more complete home experience for our customers.”
According to the announcement, The Container Store will reduce its current on-the-floor inventory by about 30 percent in order to make room for a curated selection of products from Bed Bath & Beyond.
Shoppers will remember that Bed Bath & Beyond closed down nationwide in 2023 after years of financial struggles.
The trade name Bed Bath & Beyond was purchased by Overstock.com, which rebranded itself as Bed Bath & Beyond and kept the name alive online.
Now comes this new mashup store concept from the two brands.
We spoke with an employee at the One Loudoun store who said they were expecting Bed Bath & Beyond inventory to begin arriving in the next few weeks.
In the meantime, sales are underway at both the Ashburn and Reston locations in order to make room on the sales floor for the incoming merchandise.
Also, it’s not clear if the name and signage will remain solely The Container Store, or if Bed Bath & Beyond will be worked into the name also.
Online, it’s being called The Container Store + Bed Bath & Beyond.
Other locations of The Container Store in Virginia that will get the new BB&B additions include Springfield, Vienna, Arlington, and Richmond.
