Last week, The Burn broke the news about the CMX Cinemas in Leesburg getting a new name and a new operator. Starting Friday, it will be the Phoenix Theaters Village 14.
Now, we’ve gotten a raft of new information about changes Phoenix Theaters will be making as they take over operating the movie house at the Village at Leesburg.
The theater is closed this week for a massive overhaul of the entire property. We got a tour of the work and met with Phil Zacheretti, the president and CEO of Phoenix Theaters.
We saw dozens of employees – many brought in from other Phoenix theaters around the country – scurrying everywhere, moving equipment, unpacking new items, scrubbing nooks and crannies.
We’re told the entire place is getting a deep cleaning. Burned out lightbulbs throughout the property are being replaced and upgraded. Two huge ice makers have been installed. Even the popcorn maker is getting an overhaul.
At least 35 new employees have been hired and undergone training over the past two weeks and Zacheretti says good customer service is a cornerstone of his company.
Starting Friday, when the theater reopens, the plan calls for two different concession options. There will be the “Classic Concessions” where you can pick up buttered popcorn, candy, and sodas.
Separately, there will be the “Kitchen Counter” where you can order from a newly curated menu of items and have those items delivered to your seats in the theater. No more milling around in the lobby waiting for some French fries.
Some of the items on the new menu include a Flame-Grilled Cheeseburger, a Philly Cheesesteak, a Big-Pig Hawaiian Flatbread, Chicken Tenders and Boneless Wings, BBQ Pulled Pork Loaded Fries, and a Raspberry Doughnut Cheesecake. You can see the full menu at the bottom of this story.
Phoneix will also be unveiling its PTX Theaters, which feature the largest screens and most advanced sound systems, and it will be bringing back the D-Box experience, which are seats that move and vibrate in sync with an action movie.
“From sanitizing the building, adding many new pieces of equipment, mainly in the kitchen and concession stand, hiring a full-time janitorial service, fixing all lights in the building and poster cases, changing the way the concession stand flows and works, and establishing a new ‘at your seat’ delivery service of hot foods, this theatre will be run as the luxury theater it was meant to be,” Zacheretti told The Burn.
One more perk that movie buffs may appreciate – Phoenix Theaters will be bringing its $5 Bargain Tuesday promotion to Leesburg.
Tickets to all movies on Tuesdays will be just $5, although PTX and D-Box movies will have a supplemental charge for those experiences.
